Music, Social Justice, and Coding - What’s the Connection?

Join us on February 22nd at 1pm EST for a Co-Taught Lesson, and then again on February 23rd at 7pm EST for an Educator Workshop!

At 1pm EST on February 22nd, we’ll dive into how you and your Grade 6-12 class can explore the connection between music and Indigenous social justice issues through coding.

Participating classes will explore songs that promote racial equity and the 94 Calls to Action set forth by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada. This lesson will include interactive activities surrounding Indigenous histories and truth and reconciliation and introduce students to the Your Voice is Power program and scholarship contest.

No prior experience in coding or music is required!

Join us again on February 23rd at 7pm EST, where we’ll go into more depth on how you can bring this learning into your classroom, along with how to involve your students in the Your Voice is Power contest!

All registrations include access to the Co-Taught Lesson and Educator Workshop the following evening. Recordings of the Co-Taught Lesson and Workshop will be available to registrants who can’t attend live.

This lesson is co-created by TakingIT Global, Your Voice is Power and The Cobblestone Collective
