Hour of Code Co-Taught Lesson with Minecraft: Education Edition

November 16, 2021

Free Funded by Minecraft Education

Travel through time to solve coding puzzles and save the future!

In this year’s free Minecraft: Education Edition Hour of Code lesson, students are challenged to travel back through time to correct mysterious mishaps throughout history using their coding skills.  From the great jazz players of the 1920s who are playing kazoos instead of trumpets to the grand pyramids of Giza that are being built as cubes instead of triangles, your students will use their creativity to solve fun puzzles through time!

Inside this 90-minute co-taught lesson, you and your class will choose their own adventure and connect with great innovators and inventions in science, architecture, music, engineering, and more.

Let us be your co-teacher for this coding adventure

What is a 'co-taught lesson?'

Think of us as your guest speaker or co-teacher for this lesson.  We’ll join your class, via Teams Live, and facilitate the lesson with you.  We’ll show you and your class how to use MinecraftEDU and help if you get stuck!

Teaching in person? Project this lesson on the screen at the front of the classroom!

Teaching virtually?  Jump into a video call with your class and share your screen!

Code with blocks or Python - the choice is yours!

Whether or not your class has coded before, this lesson has something for all learners:

  • Grade 3 to 5 classes will be encouraged to code with MakeCode Blocks
  • Grade 6 to Grade 8 classes will be encouraged to code with Python
