Let’s Talk Geology – Mining with Minecraft: Education Edition

Mining (or digging) is a big part of the Minecraft experience.
But did you know MinecraftEDU can help us learn about geology and the world around us too?!
Join us and our Geology guest experts as we explore not only mining throughout Canada but also inside the many different biomes in MinecraftEDU.
Exploring a new aspect of mining and geology, each 90-minute lesson will welcome a new industry expert to help us learn the theory, and then, we’ll put it all into practice inside Minecraft: Education Edition. We’ll also explore tools to help us showcase our learning like books, chalkboards and our camera.
In addition to mining practices, we’ll also learn how this industry is doing its part in stopping climate change.
If you and your class joined us for our Sustainability City Earth Week Series or Climate Futures, you’re a step ahead. You’ll want to bring your sustainability knowledge to this MinecraftEDU Build Challenge!
Tools Required
Each student will need access to:
- A device with Minecraft: Education Edition installed
- A username and password to log into Minecraft: Education Edition (provided by your school board)
