Las Vegas – Ready, Set, Build: Local Landmarks with Minecraft: Education Edition

Join us for this 2-part live-streamed lesson where you and your students will learn together and explore engaging ways to integrate Minecraft: Education Edition into your class.
You can think of us as your co-teacher for 90 minutes. We’ll facilitate the lesson for your class, and you can learn alongside your students!
Part #1 – June 16th
1:00 pm – 2:30pm PDT
Inside the first lesson, we’ll learn the basics of building in Minecraft, allowing your students to unleash their creativity by building a local landmark of their choice. We’ll explore ways to level up a build using tools only found in the Education Edition!
As students will be at all different levels in their Minecraft journey, this lesson will support everyone from beginner to advanced user – no experience required!
Part #2 – June 18th
1:00 pm – 2:30 pm PDT
Part 2 is all about Literacy and Numeracy! We’ll learn the tools inside Minecraft: Education Edition that help promote writing by completing a few creative writing tasks using your students’ unique builds. We’ll then explore Numeracy concepts and use the XYZ graphing coordinates to become master builders! To top it all off, we will finish by showcasing ways to document student thinking inside Minecraft and share their learning with you, their teacher!
WHAT DO YOU NEED FOR THE LESSON?
- A device for you and each of your students
- Minecraft: Education Edition licenses & Minecraft: Education Edition installed
- An internet connection

What if I teach virtually?
The lessons are hosted via a Teams Live link (coming soon), which means all of your students can join in from their own devices and their own locations. Better yet? The students (and you) can pause the stream at any time to give more time to solve a tech problem or to have a quick break before returning.
What if I teach face-to-face?
This will work for you too! Project the lesson (from Teams Live) onto your classroom learning display screen. We’ll take it from there, guiding you and your students through the lesson each step of the way. If we go too fast, no problem. Pause the stream at any time to give your class more time to solve a tech problem or to have a quick break before returning.
What if I’ve never used Minecraft Before?
Don’t worry! You definitely don’t need to be a Minecraft: Education Edition expert. It’s almost better if you’re not as you get a chance to learn alongside your students. Think about these lessons as the subject-specific teacher coming into your class to co-teach for a day with you. We’ll be there to answer all of the Minecraft: Education Edition questions that you or your students may have.
