Build your Own Beats with Code Co-Taught Lesson

October 3 at 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EDT

Free

Let's Make Music with Code

Discover breakbeatcode, a curriculum to teach coding to students ages 12-18, through beat making and music creation.

Inside this 60-minute co-taught lesson, students will work with a digital audio workstation, a library of samples, and a Python interpreter, to build their own beats through writing Python code.

No prior experience in coding or music is required!

Music, Social Justice, and Coding - What’s the Connection?

Then join us for a second lesson on October 12th at 1pm EDT, where you and your class will explore the connection between music and Indigenous social justice issues through coding.

Participating classes will explore songs that promote racial equity and the 94 Calls to Action set forth by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada. This lesson will include interactive applications surrounding Indigenous histories and truth and reconciliation and introduce students to the Your Voice is Power program and scholarship contest.

This lesson is co-created by breakbeatcode, TakingIT Global, Your Voice is Power and The Cobblestone Collective
